Campus Antisemitism and Student Experiences (CASE)

“Antisemitism on Canadian campuses is neither isolated nor episodic … it can reasonably be described as systemic.”

This was the central finding highlighted by the Association for Canadian Studies on August 5th, 2026 as it presented the results of its national study into campus antisemitism to press gathered on Parliament Hill.

Commissioned by the Department of Canadian Heritage, the ACS study set out to investigate the lived experiences of Jewish post-secondary students from across Canadian universities, who were surveyed between November 17 and December 19, 2025.

The report is the most comprehensive study into antisemitism on university campuses to be conducted in any major Jewish diaspora in the world.

It addresses incidents of antisemitism in both physical and digital spaces, students’ perceptions of institutional responses to antisemitism, and the impact of a hostile campus environment on Jewish students’ mental health and campus engagement, among other topics.

The results of the report were nothing short of “troubling and urgent”, said the ACS President and CEO Jack Jedwab during the press conference.

On August 17, the ACS also released an addendum to the report, “Hear No Antisemitism, See No Antisemitism?”, which explores how student’s self-reported subscription to Zionism may shape not only their attachment to Israel, but their perceptions of antisemitism and conceptions of Jewish identity more broadly.

Part II of the report, which investigated views of antisemitism among non-Jewish university students, will be published in October 2026.
