Association for Canadian Studies (“ACS” or “we”), and/or Metropolis Institute (“MI” or “we”), takes information privacy seriously. This Privacy Statement describes how we process personal information and it provides information about your rights and how you can contact us if you have questions about how we handle your personal information.

When you interact with us on our website, you may be asked to provide and disclose, on a voluntary basis (consent), your name, e-mail address, mailing address, telephone number and other similar contact information, as the case may be. The personal information ACS / MI processes are limited to name and contact information.

Processing and purpose of use

ACS / MI processes your personal information in order to provide you with the services requested by you or enable you to use certain features of the Website. ACS / MI will not sell or make commercially available any personal information that you provide without your permission.

Any personal information you provide to ACS / MI will only be used by employees, representatives or agents of ACS / MI who need to have access to it in order to provide you with the requested services or for proper administration (including storage in the cloud). Nonetheless, there are third parties that may unlawfully try to access systems or intercept transmissions or communications containing personal information. Consequently, we bear no liability for the use that may be made of the information by any third party

Storage duration

ACS / MI will only store your personal information for the duration necessary for providing you with the requested services or features of the Website and in a manner permitted by applicable law.

Rights of data subjects

You – as the individual whose personal data ACS / MI processes – have the right to withdraw your consent to our processing of your personal information at any time, which results in the immediate termination of the processing without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before your withdrawal and, if necessary, the deletion of all personal data. You have the right to request access to your personal information held by ACS /MI, request (e.g. for transfer to another IT environment) for a copy of such personal information, and to request to update or correct it.
